OSAGE NATION STUDENT HANDBOOK

The Osage Nation Scholarships Policies and Procedures are designed to influence and determine all major decisions and actions, and all activities that take place within the boundaries set by them. The ONSPP Student Handbook is published on or before May 15 of each year for the subsequent academic year.

HIGHER EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP

The Osage Nation Higher Education Scholarship is available to Osage students pursuing post-secondary education at the associate level or beyond. A wide range of educational choices is supported, including associates, bachelors, masters, and doctoral degree programs at accredited schools. Students must maintain a minimum grade point average (GPA) of a 2.0 and be in good standing to remain eligible for scholarship funding. Students may not receive the Career Training Scholarship and Higher Education Scholarship simultaneously.

The annual qualifying application opens on May 15 of each academic year. The 2024-2025 academic year must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. CT (central time) on June 14, 2024. (Terms: Fall '24, Winter '25, Spring '25 & Summer 2025).

GRADUATE DEGREE AWARD

The Graduate Degree Award is a monetary sum awarded to Osage students upon earning a graduate or professional degree from a university. Students who have earned a master’s degree or doctorate can apply for the Graduate Degree Award using the link below:

INTERNSHIP

The Osage Nation Education Department supports Osage students participating in a degree or certification program through the provision of our Internship Program. This program is designed to provide Osage students with work experience in their chosen field of study to better prepare them to enter the workforce upon graduation.

STOLE/COMMENDATIONS

Stole/Commendations are available to Osage students who will participate in higher education commencement ceremonies after successful completion of a degree program.

CAREER TRAINING SCHOLARSHIP

The Osage Nation Career Training Scholarship is available to Osage students enrolled in a program that awards a certification or licensure at a state or nationally accredited training facility. Students must maintain a minimum grade point average (GPA) of a 2.0 and be in good standing to remain eligible for scholarship funding. Students may not receive the Higher Education Scholarship and Career Training Scholarship simultaneously.

JOHN L. RUBEL SCHOLARSHIP

The John L. Rubel Scholarship is awarded to two (2) Osage students attending Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, or Tri-County Technology Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Applicants must be enrolled full-time at OSU-Institute of Technology or be enrolled in a program that is no less than 220 clock hours at Tri-County Technology Center. Students need to maintain a term GPA of 3.0 to remain eligible for scholarship funding.

The Rubel Scholarship criteria are set forth by the estate requirements. The amount may change from one academic year to the next due to annual earnings (from the previous year).

EUGENE DANIEL SCHOLARSHIP

The Eugene Daniel Scholarship is awarded to four (4) Osage students every year. Students must be enrolled in a degree/certificate program at an accredited college or technical school and major in a medically related field. The student must maintain a term GPA of a 3.0 to remain eligible for scholarship funding and must be enrolled full-time.

The Daniel Scholarship criteria are set forth by the estate requirements. The amount may change from one academic year to the next due to annual earnings (from the previous year).

E. RAY ADKISSON SCHOLARSHIP

The E. Ray Adkisson Scholarship is awarded to four (4) Osage students per year. Students must be enrolled in an undergraduate degree program (at an accredited college). Students must be enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credit hours, and maintain a term GPA of a 3.0 to remain eligible for the scholarship funding. Preference will be given to part-time students with the highest GPA.

The Adkisson Scholarship criteria are set forth by the estate requirements. The amount may change from one academic year to the next due to annual earnings (from the previous year).

MARY E. TINKER SCHOLARSHIP

The Mary E. Tinker Scholarship is awarded to twelve (12) Osage students per year. Students must be enrolled in a graduate degree program (at an accredited college). Students must be enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credit hours, and maintain a term GPA of a 2.0 to remain eligible for the scholarship funding. Preference will be given to part-time students with the highest GPA.

The Tinker Scholarship criteria are set forth by the estate requirements. The amount may change from one academic year to the next due to annual earnings (from the previous year).

MORRIS E. & ETHEL CARLTON WHEELER SCHOLARSHIP TRUST

The Morris E. & Ethel Carlton Wheeler Scholarship is awarded to six (6) Osage students and adopted children (Indian or Non-Indian, legally adopted via a court of competent jurisdiction) of original Osage allottee who are furthering their education. Students must provide verification of financial need (FAFSA), maintain a term GPA of a 2.0 to remain eligible for scholarship funding and must be enrolled full-time.

ACADEMIC ADVISOR SUPPORT SERVICES

The Academic Advisor provides a student-centered approach to academic success and problem-solving in the challenges of transitioning to higher education. If you are in need of assistance, please contact the Education Department.

CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE TESTING PROGRAM

Assistance is provided to Osages nationwide for the cost of one certification or licensure test fee that is needed to gain viable employment. This could include but is not limited to bar exam, CPA, CNA, CLEET, EMT, real estate license, and teacher certification.

NATIONWIDE ACADEMIC TUTORING PROGRAM - POST-SECONDARY STUDENTS 

The Nationwide Academic Tutoring Program (NATP) is an additional academic resource provided by the Osage Nation Education Department to assist support in academic tutoring through the online Tutor.com platform. Osage students enrolled at a post-secondary institution are eligible to apply.
