Cooling Energy Assistance Starts June 1

Nation helps 135 Native Households since Dec. 1, 2015

Pawhuska, Okla. (March 11, 2016)—As the Spring season approaches, the Osage Nation Financial Assistance Department has closed application for heating assistance and the cooling season will begin June 1. Since Dec. 1, the Energy Assistance Program has assisted 135 Native American households in the Osage Reservation (Osage County) designated service area. Benefits varied from utility assistance to the repair and replacement of Heating and Ventilation Air Conditioning systems.

The program will continue to accept applications to address crisis situations. Applicants must have received utility assistance during the heating season and have a household that contains one of the following: young children nine years or younger, elderly (55) years or older, members with disabilities or Osage Nation citizens.

VOUCHER PROGRAM

The Financial Assistance Department also administers the Voucher Program to eligible constituents. This program offers a one-time rental or mortgage assistance to Native American households within the Osage Reservation (Osage County). Annual adjusted gross income cannot exceed 80 percent of the U.S. Median Income Limits. Benefits include up to two months of assistance paid directly to the property owner or mortgage company.
