Daniel Sherron to be Presented 2019 Excellence in Education Award
PAWHUSKA, Oklahoma - Daniel Sherron began at the Wah-Zha-Zhi Health Center as the Clinic Manager in December of 2018. He serves as the Clinic Manager during the day, and in the evenings Sherron teaches business courses at Northern Oklahoma College (NOC) in Tonkawa. In the Fall, he instructs Principles of Management, and in the Spring he explains Human Resource Management to a classroom of young aspiring leaders.
Sherron has always had a passion for teaching and finding ways to contribute to molding Native American business leaders for the future. He stated, “I wanted to attend graduate school for a variety of reasons, but one of my main focuses was to be able to teach at the collegiate level. Going through undergrad and graduate school, I had few if any instructors who looked like me or shared my experience working in Indian Country. American Indians need to be represented whenever possible, especially here in Oklahoma where our economic and social impact can be felt statewide. I was shocked and humbled to receive this award, but am grateful that my experience in Indian Country can translate into a classroom setting and help shape the business leaders of tomorrow”.
Three faculty members will be receiving this accolade for 2019. Colleagues select the recipients annually for recognition. Sherron will be presented with his Award Friday, May 10, 2019, at the NOC campus in Tonkawa. The faculty and administration of NOC will present him with the 2019 Excellence in Education Award for Adjuncts at their end of the year faculty meeting. They will also recognize his name and Award in the commencement program to share with the collegiate community.
