Boys & Girls Club to be 100% funded by Osage Nation
Pawhuska, OK - (August 13, 2014) - The Boys & Girls Club of the Osage Nation will be open to membership to all children residing in the communities of Pawhuska, Hominy, and Fairfax with a priority based on Osage Preference. The funds used for the Boys & Girls Club will be 100% Osage tribal dollars for the next fiscal year.
Effective September 1, 2014, membership to the Boys & Girls Club of the Osage Nation will follow an Osage Preference guideline.
- From September 1 through September 15 only Osage applicants, and family members residing in an Osage household will be accepted by the Boys & Girls Club of the Osage Nation.
- Beginning September 16, Native Americans from other federally recognized tribes and non-Native applicants will be accepted by the Boys & Girls Club of the Osage Nation until all openings are filled.
In a Directive from the Principal Chief, an Osage household is defined as a household in which at least one member of the Osage Nation resides. To obtain Osage Preference in the application process the applicant must submit a validly issued MEMBERSHIP CARD from the Osage Membership Department.
The Osage Nation will commit over $1 million tribal dollars into the Boys & Girls Club of the Osage Nation. The Osage Nation will use its tribal dollars to emphasize Osage culture to the youth and welcomes any non-Osage youth who is interested in learning the Osage culture. A full educational program for the youth in science, math, and the arts is being developed for quality education in the Boys & Girls Club. The name of the organization may have to be changed because of the use of Osage tribal funds only.
