Grayhorse Community Building Ribbon Cutting
Grayhorse, Ok. – May 15, 2020, the Osage Nation will host a special ribbon cutting at 10:00 a.m. for the new Grayhorse Community Building in Fairfax. Head Committeeman Archie Mason has been asked to begin the ceremony with prayer followed by Principal Chief Standing Bear and Speaker Tillman for opening remarks.
The Legislature passed two appropriations totaling $2.9 million for construction and the contract was executed on February 5, 2019. This project totaled roughly 8,500 square feet which doubled the current capacity that included the following additions: concrete parking, porte-cochère, cook shack, site lighting and drainage.
Collaboration on this project included Tribal Development, Grayhorse Committee, 5-Man Board, the Roads Department and several other outside entities.
Tribal Development Manager Silas Satepauhoodle commented, “There’s a gratifying feeling to know we’ve been able to provide a place for our future generations to continue our dance and all the events surrounding it. Working together with the professional teams is a coordinated effort to say the least but a pleasure knowing this facility will accommodate so much for our people.”
