Osage LLC Shares Updates, Progress and What’s Next
Osage LLC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Osage Nation with headquarters in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Over the past 12 months, Osage LLC has undergone significant changes and reorganization. Most recently, in October 2021, legislation was passed that transferred ONES and the Osage Ranch into Osage LLC Holdings. Additional LLC entities include Osage Nation Environmental Solutions (ONES), Osage Pinnacle Design Group (OPDG), Osage Innovative Solutions (OIS), Osage Government Services (OGS), and Skyway 36.
These changes and reorganization have put Osage LLC on a solid financial footing. The LLC – with OPDG and OIS – currently has $1.6 million in the bank due to prudent and forward-thinking decisions by the board of directors. This has enabled the LLC to financially support ONES without approaching Osage Nation Congress for money and also not taking any funds from the Ranch. In their State of the Osage LLC, LLC shared the following updates. The full statement can be found here.
ONES Updates: The board provided financial assistance to ONES, thus keeping ONES afloat without financial aid from Congress. Specifically, Osage LLC financed $340,000 through cash or credit, in order for ONES to make payroll; and purchase four vehicles and equipment for job sites.
ONES’ current contracts include projects at Fort Benning, GA, Fort Campbell, KY, Fort Gordon, GA, and Bluestem Ranch. ONES has grown from a three-person operation to a staff of 28 in the past five months with expectations to add new clients and up to 10 new hires in the next six months. It is projected that ONES will be in a positive net position by July 31, 2022.
Osage Ranch Updates: The Ranch currently has many projects underway such as bison acquisition, land leasing and everyday ranch operations. The board will complete a business operations and breeding program review over the next several months. In addition, a review of the Ranch and Packing Plant will be conducted to identify potential economic opportunities. The Ranch has $1.4 million in the bank and approximately $4 million in fixed assets.
OPDG Updates: OPDG manages the INAAP (Indiana Army Ammunition Plant) and JPG (Jefferson Proving Grounds) contracts with the Louisville Corps of Engineers District. These contracts are projected to generate $1.3 million gross revenue and $345,000 net revenue by the end of the first quarter.
OIS Updates: A contract with Fort Leonard Wood ended last year. Under the leadership of the board of directors, $330,000 was retained which provided resources to help in other areas. In November 2021, broadband was brought from Pawhuska to the Grayhorse area providing residents with much-needed high-speed internet services. As part of this effort, OIS established the George W. Pease Technology Center for the Osage people in the Grayhorse community to use. The Technology Center provides computer and computer training for the Osage people. The next phase is for the installation of broadband this summer, going from Pawhuska to Bowring in NE Osage County. OIS is also working to provide broadband internet service to all three of the Osage Villages in the near future.
OGS Updates: OGS is a recently established entity within the Osage LLC family that will enter the SBA’s 8(a) development program and offer information technology and professional support services to the government.
Skyway 36 Updates: A lease to manage and oversee Skyway 36 will soon be signed by Osage LLC. Skyway 36 encompasses approximately 100 prime acres and is northeast of the Tulsa Osage Casino. The property contains over 80,000 sq ft of office space, a hangar and a paved 3000 ft. runway. The hangar will undergo a major update to bring it to current aviation standards through a grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration. The Oklahoma Manufacturing Alliance provided an engineering assessment that will enable the facility to qualify for usage. Osage LLC is currently working with several companies willing to invest in Skyway 36 with the promise to bring good-paying jobs and growth to Osage LLC and the Osage Nation. This is also an opportunity to further diversify the Nation’s investments.
