Osage Nation Breaks Ground on New Hominy Senior Housing Complex
OSAGE NATION RESERVATION, OKLA. (July 6, 2023) – The Osage Nation breaks ground on the Hominy Senior Housing Complex on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at 10 a.m. at 1216 North Eastern Avenue in Hominy, OK. Speakers include Principal Chief Geoffrey Standing Bear and Alice Goodfox, Osage Nation Congressional Speaker.
Over the past several years, Osage elders and their families have expressed the need for additional senior housing. In response, the Osage Nation purchased 44.17 acres of land in Hominy for a total of 20 housing units. “The continued expansion of our senior housing is a way to thank elders for all they have done for us,” said Chief Standing Bear. “We’re excited to continue these projects and provide for our elders.”
Hominy City Council Member Carolyn Christy applauded the plans. “This is exciting for the city of Hominy,” she said. “We must make some of these moves, so thank you very much.”
The Hominy Senior Housing Complex will join the Pawhuska Senior Housing Expansion and Fairfax Senior Housing Complex, both of which currently house seniors. Funds were awarded from an appropriation of $7,694,363 (ONCA 21-51) sponsored by Congresswoman Alice Goodfox to the Executive Branch.
