Osage Nation Purchases Land in Fairfax for Senior Housing

Press Release
Osage Principal Chief Geoffrey M. Standing Bear announces that Osage Nation is purchasing 13.63 acres from the Town of Fairfax as the location for a new Osage Nation Senior Housing addition. The property is located just north of Fairfax Manor Nursing Home.

The Nation plans on developing a Senior Housing addition of 8 duplexes containing 16 housing units. Over the past several years Osage elders have expressed their concern about the lack of housing for seniors in and around Fairfax. At this time the only option for Osage Nation Senior Housing is in Pawhuska which is 30 miles distant.

Thanks to Mayor Charlie Cartwright and Members of the Town Board for working with Osage Nation in identifying this land and supporting the Nation’s endeavors to assist our Osage Elders. The Osage Nation will continue working with the Town of Fairfax as a partner for the development of utilities, rights of way and other practical work. Now that the land has been purchased, Osage Nation will begin architectural and engineering for the new project.
