Osage Nation Schedules Cemetery Ribbon Cutting and Funeral Home Groundbreaking
Wahzhazhe National Cemetery and Funeral Home Commemorations on February 3 at 10 a.m.
OSAGE NATION RESERVATION, Okla. (January 23, 2025) - The Osage Nation to host a joint ribbon cutting and groundbreaking for the Wahzhazhe National Cemetery and Funeral Home on Monday, February 3, 2025, at 10 a.m. The event will occur at 1358 CR 2667 (corner of Highway 99 and County Road 2667) just south of Pawhuska, OK.
The Wahzahzhe National Cemetery is the first Osage-owned and maintained cemetery. It includes sidewalks, newly planted trees, and sod throughout each quadrant, with roads constructed by the Osage Nation Roads Department. The Osage Nation Funeral Home will be built directly north, within walking distance, of the cemetery. The Funeral Home is also a first for the Osage Nation designed to meet the unique cultural needs of Osages.
All community members are invited to participate in these milestone commemorations, which will include prayers and remarks from Osage Nation officials.
