ONVC Ribbon Cutting Mural

OSAGE NATION RESERVATION, Okla. (May 27, 2025)โ€”The Osage Nation Visitors Center is excited to announce a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a newly completed exterior mural. The event will take place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 10, at 602 E. Main St., Pawhuska, OK. Ryan Redcorn of Buffalo Nickel Creative led this community art project, which features work by artists Yatika Starr Fields, Erica Pretty Eagle, Jessica Moore Harjo, and apprentices Aaliyah Wahwassuck, Jada Lynn Phetsacksith, LaMiyah Waterbird Moore, Pehanzhutse RedCorn, Raylea Kahdehas Coggburn, Mia Jones, and Cierra Wallace. Together, they created a visually stunning piece that celebrates Wahzhazhe culture.

"We couldnโ€™t be happier with the mural," said Addie Hudgins, the Director of the Wahzhazhe Cultural Center and Visitors Center. "It perfectly complements the photographs displayed throughout the interior, making the Visitors Center truly Wahzhazhe both inside and out. We extend our gratitude to all the artists who contributed to this beautiful display for locals and visitors to enjoy for many years to come."

The vibrant mural, divided into three sections and designed in an Osage diamond pattern, pays homage to traditional Wahzhazhe symbols. It features Osage orthography in the center, which translates to English as "This is Osage Land."

Along with the ribbon cutting, Wahzhazhe Communications Manager Russ Tallchief will host an artist talk with Redcorn, Fields, Pretty Eagle, and Moore-Harjo to discuss the mural, from its concept to its completion. All community members are invited to join the discussion and enjoy refreshments provided by Ah Tha Tse Catering.
