Pawhuska Arbor Pavers

OSAGE RESERVATION, OKLA. (February 4, 2022) - Osage Nation has multiple construction projects in motion. While some projects are large-scale, others seem smaller, yet greatly impact Osages during important cultural moments. Early this week, Osage Nation installed stormwater management and pedestrian-friendly pavers providing solid brick support throughout the bench area under the Pawhuska dance arbor, as well as planting six new trees on the west lawn.

“The Osage dance arbors are the focus of our ceremonial ways,” said Osage Chief Standing Bear. “We are glad to add these pavers for the comfort of those sitting on the benches. Also, the trees will help shade the dancers and families from the evening heat in June.”

Builders Unlimited, LLC managed the projects under the direction of Osage Nation Director of Operations Casey Johnson. With knowledge of the great importance of bench placement for Osages, they took photos and created a map in order to place each bench back to its exact location. Funds for these projects came from Osage Nation’s Property Improvement Fund.
