Principal Chief John D. Red Eagle elected as Vice Chair of UNIOKT
Osage Nation Principal Chief John D. Red Eagle has been elected to a three-year term as Vice Chair of the United Indian Nations in Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas (UNIOKT), an organization formed to pursue the advocacy of law and policy to benefit all Indian nations and indigenous peoples. One of Chief Red Eagle’s duties as Vice Chair will be to prepare and present an annual report at the annual UNIOKT convention.
UNIOKT is planning a “State Impact Day” in May 2014 at the state capitol to bring awareness to issues and concerns of Oklahoma Native American tribes.
Those eligible for membership in UNIOKT are: 1) all Indian nations recognized within the states of Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas, 2) individual members of Indian Nations within these three states and 3) tribal, corporate and non-profit organizations within these states.
