On July 1, 2023, the Osage Nation Education Department took a group of Native American Youth, grades 3rd – 12th, to the Tinker Air Force Base Air Show in Oklahoma City. During the show, students viewed a World War II reenactment called Tora Tora Tora and other performances by Team Tinker, U.S. Navy Blue Angels, and Fat Albert. They also participated in hands-on experiences, including robotics, drone technology, and other aircraft educational activities. Throughout the day, the students spoke with various professionals in the aerospace, aviation, and STEM career fields.
Attending youth represented the following communities: Collinsville, Fairfax, Hominy, Pawhuska, Skiatook, Sapulpa, and Tulsa. They received a t-shirt, backpack, bucket hat, lunch, snacks, and dinner. The Osage Nation Education Department would like to thank Marathon Grant, Osage Nation Public Health, and the Wahzhazhe Health Center for supporting this event.
