Nominations open for 2014 ‘Champions of Health’ awards
(Pawhuska, OK) – Individuals, groups and businesses that are changing the health of Osage County through innovative efforts are encouraged to apply for the 2014 Champions of Health Awards. The awards program, a statewide effort, has honored more than 100 projects and programs that are working to reverse the negative health statistics in the state.
Nominations for the 2014 awards opened August 29 will be accepted through September 24. Nominations can be submitted online or by mail. There is no cost to enter.
Champions of Health winners will be recognized at a gala dinner in Pawhuska on Thursday October 2, 2014.
The nomination categories include: Champion of Children’s Health, Community Health Champion, Champion of Senior Health and Business Health Champion. Category description information is attached. When more citizens are involved in social change we will see ourobesity, tobacco related disease, and pre-diabetic levels decrease-resulting in a healthier community.
The Champions of Health awards program is presented by the Osage Nation Communities of Excellence and the Osage County Community Partnership Board whose motto is “Creating a New Path Toward Community Health.” Our vision is to create a community-wide movement that will encourage all residents of Osage County to adopt healthier lifestyles by eating better, moving more, and being tobacco-free. Through a spirit of collaboration and cooperation between community organizations, tribal departments and residents of Osage County change in quality health issues can be achieved.
