Programs strive to ensure families have access to fresh food and essential support

 

The Osage Nation remains committed to supporting our communities by providing food service and assistance programs that help ensure children, families, and elders have access to nutritious meals and essential resources.

Through seasonal and year-round meal distributions and food assistance initiatives, the Osage Nation continues to invest in the health, wellness, and overall well-being of our families and communities.

Osage Nation Food Assistance Program (New! Annual) 

The Osage Nation Food Assistance Program is a direct assistance initiative administered through Butcher House Meats and Harvest Land. The program provides eligible Osage Nation members with up to $250 annually in food assistance benefits to help reduce food insecurity and support healthy living.

 

Eligible participants must:

 

  • Be legally enrolled members of the Osage Nation
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Be able to pick up food orders within the Osage Nation Reservation or receive shipped orders at a physical residence within the Osage Nation Reservation. 

 

The program officially begins June 1, 2026. Applications are available online at https://www.osagenation-nsn.gov/foodservice. Questions may be directed to Cody Vavra at (918) 287-5237.

Summer Food Service Feeding Program (Seasonal) 

The Osage Nation Social Services Department is once again participating in the Summer Food Service Feeding Program in partnership with the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. The program provides shelf-stable breakfast and lunch meals to all children (Native and non-Native) 18 years of age and younger, or age 19 if their birthday occurred during the 2024-25 academic year.

 

Meal distribution locations include:

 

Hominy

  • Tuesdays: June 2, June 9, and June 16
  • Osage Nation WIC, 303 E. Main St., Hominy 
  • 4-6 p.m.

 

Following those dates, Hominy Public Schools will continue meal distribution throughout the summer.

 

Bowring

  • Tuesdays: June 2 through July 28
  • Bowring School Gymnasium, 87 County Road 3304, Bowring 
  • 4:30-6 p.m.

 

Avant Distribution Site

  • Mondays: June 1 through July 27
  • Essentials
  • 2-6 p.m.

 

Additional summer meal sites will also be operated by Woodland Public Schools, Pawhuska Public Schools, and Barnsdall Public Schools. Distribution details will be shared directly by each district.

Food Distribution Services (Year-Round) 

The Osage Nation Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (ONFDPIR) continues to provide nutritious food packages year-round to eligible low-income Native American households residing within the Osage Nation Reservation. This program is conducted year-round for eligible participants. Please find more information here

 

These efforts provide opportunities for children to receive healthy meals throughout the summer months while also connecting families with valuable resources and assistance. By working collaboratively with our network, Osage Nation strives to continue strengthening community care and to help meet the needs of families across the Osage Nation Service Area.
