Osage Tax Commission expands services

The commission will be issuing black tags, salvage title policy, and trade name registration

PAWHUSKA, Okla. (August 18, 2015) — The Osage Nation Tax Commissionhas startedoffering a few new services. The new services include black tags, salvage title policy and trade name registration.

Greg Carpenter, Tax Commission Director, said the new options provide necessary services for the Osage people and community.

Black Tags: A Black Tag entitles the bearer to place a hold on their registration in lieu of current liability insurance. Every owner who chooses to not use or operate a motor vehicle upon the public streets or public highways within the jurisdiction of the Osage Nation shall file an affidavit. A Black Tag decal will be issued for the vehicle. If the owner wishes to use the vehicle, they simply renew their vehicle with the Tax Commission. For a new vehicle registration as a black tag, there may be additional fees due to processing.

Salvage Title Policy: The ONTC will provide inspections for Rebuilt Salvage vehicles. We have already started processing titles bearing “Flood Damaged” and “Theft Recovery.”

Trade Name Registration: The ONTC will now accept and process trade name registrations as part of its business licensing program. Trade Name Registration allows an Osage Nation business to operate under another name.

The fees are as follows: Black Tags - $15; Rebuilt Vehicle Inspection - $10; Trade Name Registration - $25.

Applications for Black Tags and Rebuilt Vehicle Inspections will be available on the Osage Nation website at osagenation-nsn.gov/what-we-do/tax-commission beginning Aug. 17.

The Tax Commission also issues license plates, photo IDs, vehicle registrations, small business licenses, and vehicle titles among other services. The Tax Commission office is located at 220 W.
