Osage Nation Plans Ribbon Cutting for McCord Project Completion

OSAGE RESERVATION, OKLA. (January 11, 2022) –The Osage Nation (ON) to host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the completion of the McCord Project located at City View Road just east of Osage Casino in Ponca City, Okla. The ceremony will take place on Friday, Jan. 14, 2022 beginning at 10 a.m. The event is open to the public. 

The project started in February 2021 as a reconstruction of City View Road and partial reconstruction and overlay of Kelley Avenue (north of Osage Casino - Ponca City). ON Roads Department, Guy Engineering, and Builders Unlimited coordinated to complete the project in December 2021. This was a joint partnership with Osage County, who was responsible for all pre-construction costs and activities. The construction costs were covered entirely by Tribal Transportation Program Federal funding in the amount of $4.3 million.

Justin Carr, Director of the ON Roads Department commented, “This project has had many hurdles to overcome over several years to reach completion. It will provide drastically improved and safer traveling for decades.”

The Osage Nation Roads Department ensures that all transportation-related issues within the Osage boundaries are addressed and that Osage Nation Tribal Transportation Program (TTP) funds are distributed in a way that best serves the needs of the Osage Nation, Osage Tribal Members, and all other residents that live or travel within those boundaries. The Osage Nation Roads Department is responsible for communicating with federal, state, county, and other local officials to ensure that collaboration between the different entities is taking place, efforts are maximized, and the safety and well-being of travelers within those boundaries are addressed.
