OSAGE RESERVATION, OKLA. (February 9, 2022) - When Dr. Amanda Bighorse joined Osage Nation to lead our Health Services, she did so at what could be considered the most challenging time in healthcare. It was nearly eighteen months into the COVID-19 pandemic and our Wahzhazhe Health Center was already understaffed and stretched thin, as all healthcare institutions are across the globe. She was given an enormous task that required full support from the Osage Nation. During her time at Osage Nation, Dr. Bighorse did everything that was asked of her under difficult conditions. On behalf of the Office of the Chiefs, we wish Dr. Amanda Bighorse (Osage/Cherokee), all the best as she transitions professionally.

Looking forward to our future, the governing body of Osage Nation Health Services, the Osage Health Authority Board (ONHAB), is seeking two positions: Chief Medical Officer and Chief Executive Officer. There is a sense of urgency with these positions and the ONHAB is holding emergency meetings to expedite this process. We ask that Osage Nation constituents remain patient throughout this process and, now more than ever, support Wahzahzhe Health Center workers and staff. Our encouragement and appreciation are critical.
