2020-2025 Osage Nation Strategic Plan Update Completed
Press Release
PAWHUSKA, OK (December 2020) – The Office of the Chief’s announces the release of the updated 2007 Osage Nation Strategic Plan. The final report, titled Osage Nation Strategic Update, The Next 5 Years: 2020-2025, is available to view online at https://www.osagenation-nsn.gov/what-we-do/self-governance-strategic-planning/2020-strategic-plan.
The Strategic Plan update started in the fall of 2019 and involved a concentrated effort to reach all Osage people across the Nation. The process included 16 face-to-face meetings and six webinars, which gathered input to create a survey that addressed the most current issues. Chief Standing Bear attended the face-to-face meetings along with a team from COTA Holdings, LLC, and the Office of Self-Governance and Strategic Planning.
The survey for the update was mailed to all Osage tribal members, 18 and older, and was also available online in May 2020.
“We were fortunate to complete all the face-to-face meetings by early January 2020 before the COVID-19 pandemic. We had large turnouts at many of the in-state and out-of-state locations, as well as the two employee meetings. The survey took place in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was interesting to see the difference in priorities from the input meetings versus the survey results,” remarked Candy Thomas, Director, Office of Self-Governance and Strategic Planning.
There will be a limited number of hard copies of the Strategic Plan Update, published in January. The hard copies will be distributed to the Executive, Legislative and Judicial Branches to be used in annual planning activities and other Osage organizations and individuals upon request. The update will help guide Osage Nation Leadership and plan for the future by providing the current top priorities determined by Osage tribal members.
Both projects are being underwritten by funds made available earlier this year through the Coronavirus Assistance, Relief, and Economic Security Act.
