Press Release
Hominy City Council Meeting

OSAGE RESERVATION, OKLA. (March 22, 2022) – Osage Nation Principal Chief Geoffrey Standing Bear and Director of Operations Casey Johnson presented plans for a new Hominy Senior Housing Complex to city council members and citizens at the Hominy City Council Meeting on Monday, March 21, 2022. Osage Nation recently purchased 44.17 acres of land for the complex located at 1216 N. Eastern Ave. in Hominy, Okla. Ten duplexes, for a total of 20 housing units, are planned for construction.

During the presentation, Hominy City Council Member Carolyn Christy applauded the plans. “This is exciting for the city of Hominy,” she said. “We need to make some of these moves, so thank you very much.”

The Hominy Senior Housing Complex will join the Pawhuska Senior Housing Expansion and Fairfax Senior Housing Complex which are both currently in construction and on schedule. The plans will replicate the Fairfax Senior Housing complex which will save time and money. Funds will come from an appropriation of $7,694,363 (ONCA 21-51) sponsored by Congresswoman Alice Goodfox to the Executive Branch.

Over the past several years Osage elders and their families have expressed the need for additional senior housing.

“The continued expansion of our senior housing is a way to thank elders for all they have done for us,” said Chief Standing Bear. “We’re excited to continue these projects and provide for our elders.”
